The religious ideas and practices of African peoples have much in common with each
other, and with related religions in the Caribbean and the Americas. African Islam and African
Christianity have developed separately since their earliest time in Ethiopia, Egypt, and the Sudan.

The Religion, Scriptures, and Spirituality series describes the beliefs, religious practices, and the spiritual
and moral commitments of the world's great religious traditions. It also describes a religion's way of
understanding scripture, identifies its outstanding thinkers, and discusses its attitude and relationship
to society.
